There was over 150 of us on the 20/30's cruise last year .. I would be surprised if it were less than that this year as I know several of us plan on going again .... it was a freakin blast!!! :-)

I'm going on the cruise from Miami from April 4th to the 11th. I live in NYC so I booked a flight down there, and have 2 hours to spare to make the port and get on the cruise. This will be my first cruise. I traveled to Sydney Australia in August and absolutely enjoyed it for 8 days. I made both flights to Sydney with 15 mins to spare, it was such a rush. I'll tell you the whole story if I meet you on the cruise.

It typically takes 30-60 minutes to get from where you drop off your luggage (basically at the curb with the porters) to get through security and sign in and actually ON the boat. If you can get an earlier flight, I would. ** I just checked Carnival's website and they suggest you arrive no later than 90 minutes prior to embarkation because the final departure manifest must be turned in 60 min prior to departure. Most of us arrive the day before as there is a pre-party in town that night to meet some of the group you'll be traveling with. It makes it easier to find them on the boat. I was on this cruise last year & it's awesome!! :-) ... I know several of us are going to Florida a few days early to lay on the beach and enjoy SoBe before getting on the ship. Just a thought. ~A~

1713 NEW YORK LGA SUN 04APR 6:55 AM MIAMI INTERNTNL 10:05 AM SUN 11APR 12:50 PM NEW YORK LGA 3:50 PM
I make it to Miami at 10:05 AM on Sunday, so I'll have enough time to run to the port. Thanks for the heads up though. I'm only taking a carry on. I didn't want to chance a hotel and being able to check out in time and the such, so I'm just going to wing it. If you do see me on the boat, say hello since I really can't see too well LOL.

I always go down the day before the crusie for pre-cruise party and also stay a day after the cruise gets backa s well. Has always been a good way to go for me.
I have not booked the cruise, hotel or flight yet for April cruise, but 6 months to go and lots of time to do this!! :-)
The closest and best hotel to the port of Miami is Holiday Inn on Biscayne Blvd., directly across from Bayside Marketplace.
As always,
Cheers,

Providing there are no flight delays arriving at 10 AM is in fact plenty of time to get to the port. BUT I always liked to err on the side of caution and come the day before so if there are problems you have a safety net so you don't miss the ship. Now one of our cruisers last Halloween, a first timer, arrived in Tampa at 1:10 PM for a cruise leaving at 4...and Carnival was the one who booked the airfare for her! She got on the ship at about 2:30-2:45 so was one of the last ones aboard. SC offers a group hotel and a shuttle to the port and its about 15 minutes ride from South Beach to the port as South Beach is located just north of it. As long as you dont experience any flight delays you will be fine and I am positive there will be 150 strong or more for the 20s/30s group and I have several 30 something friends who I am sure will be on this trip.

Hi Gang,
Has not been much action on this particular board lately!! So, thougt I would write a little note on here.
Who is planning on going on the 20's and 30's cruise on April 4 2010???
I am planning on booking pretty soon and wondered if I could get some thoughts as to whether I should book an ocean view or a balcony cabin?? Not much difference in price. I have always got an ocean view single cabin and have found them most comfortable and spacious!! :-)
As always,
Cheers,

I agree with April. Two hours to get from the airport to the port is not enough time, plus, what will you do if for some reason there is a weather or mechanical delay?
I'm probably going to arrive in Miami on either Thursday or Friday, so I'll see you - and probably a few others - on the beach before we go, April. Also, I have a friend who lives down there and she always takes pre-cruisers to the hottest night spots in South Beach.

I booked this cruise on Friday! I'm in a balcony cabin as I enjoy the "fresh air" and tend to get sick less often than breathing the recycled air in the interior/oceanview cabins. Personal preference only! If you're not in your room much (as most aren't except to change, shower or sleep), then it really doesn't matter which cabin you get. A chick friend I met on the 20/30's last year & I are meeting up a few days early to spend some time hanging out on the beach first, so I'll be there Wed or Thurs! :)

Hello everyone. I'm also booked on the 20s and 30s April cruise, my first cruise ever. Very interested to know more about the pre-trip party, would anyone know where it may be held at for this cruise. Would be nice to book a room in the same hotel.

Hi Dan,
The last pre-cruise party I was at that cruised out of Miami was at Bayside Market Place on Biscayne Blvd. and after that a bunch of us went to a bar called the Clevelander down at Sobe aka South Beach!! :-)
As always,
Cheers,

I realize it's kind of early to be addressing this kind of thing, but if there is enough interest as we get closer, I'll see what I can do about putting together VIP admission to a couple of South Beach clubs including Mango's. (Plenty of eye candy for the ladies and the men.) Those that have been to miami before know that the lines can be long and the clubs are open into the early, early hours of the day. Here's the link for Mango's: http://www.mangostropicalcafe.com/Less than five months and with the holidays fast approaching it will seem more like three. --Byron

I am a first time cruiser and I am planning on booking this cruise sometime this week. I have a few questions if anyone has any answers that would be great.
I like the idea of a balcony room, but is it worth the extra money?
I have been looking into some flights. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the best time to arrange for a flight home the day we would dock. I was looking at a flight out of Ft Lauderdale around 1ish....does anyone know if that will be cutting it to close?
I am really excited about going on my first cruise. It seems I have been talking about it forever. It looks like I am going solo and I am a bit nervous, but I am determined to have a ton of fun!

Hi, Tiffany,
Of course each person will have his or her own personal opinion about whether or not it is worth it to book a balcony cabin, but truly it's a matter of personal preference. Are you an early riser? Do you like to wake up to the sun or sunlight or are you only going to use your cabin for sleep and to get ready for our events? Last Halloween and again in June I booked a balcony cabin and each time only wound up using it for about a total of 15-30 minutes for the whole week. After that I told myself that unless it was a really great deal, I would only book an inside because I can always head up to the Lido deck to catch some rays. That being said, others think it's nice to be able to hop out on your personal balcony and have a snack or order room service and get breakfast. Personally, I like the 1A category cabins because I prefer a cabin to myself and the 1A allows you to get a cabin with one lower bed and one upper bed for less than the cost of a 4A, single occupancy. I was very fortunate on this cruise and got a 1A on deck 6, so I won't be in the dungeon, aka Riviera deck. lol
You should be safe with a 1ish flight out of Fort Lauderdale. Typically the ship is completely cleared of all passengers by 10am at the very latest, which would give you an hour and a half to make your transfer from the port up to FLL. More than likely you will be off earlier than this, so I don't believe you would be under a time crunch. Some people try to book a later flight out so they don't feel rushed to get off the ship. I actually find it a little funny when security comes beating on my cabin door saying, "Mr. Rice, it's time to leave the ship!!"
I hope this helps...any thoughts from the rest of the crew?
