Over 40 Spring Singles Cruise Review

SC_Harvey_aruba-bus_April-2013Our April 27 over 40 singles cruise group of 150 very eager cruisers just returned from a fabulous vacation!  We had a lot of return guests as well as a large group of newbies with us on their first singles cruise.  After eight days of fun and sun on the Carnival Breeze, we think they have become addicted to singles cruising now too!

On this cruise, we visited four great ports – Grand Turk, La Romana (Dominican Republic), Curacao and Aruba, along with four sun and fun-filled sea days.

Grand Turk welcomed us with sunny skies as we enjoyed one of the prettiest beaches and ocean in the region.  Everyone in the group enjoyed the day sunning, swimming, snorkeling, exploring, and just having a fun-filled day at the Margaritaville pool and beach.

The next day we were in La Romana, Dominican Republic and I had not been to that part of the DR before.  Wow, was I surprised at the beauty of the area and the beaches and some of the most colorful beautiful ocean I have ever seen.  The days excursion was a visit to a five star resort – all inclusive food, drinks, and beach chairs. I have been to a lot of beaches but this one is now high on my list and the sky was clear and sunny and the water was amazing.  I know everyone enjoyed this day.

The next day we arrived in Curacao at 2pm, which gave everyone time to rest in or enjoy the sun and outdoors aboard ship as we sailed into Curacao. Once we were docked, many of the group headed into downtown to explore this very Dutch Island and it’s unique Dutch flavor. We were in port until 11pm so a lot of folks took advantage by going out to visit the local restaurants and watering holes.

The next morning we arrived in Aruba, and whoever signed up for the Kukoo Bus tour had no idea how much fun they were getting into!  We had 2 full busloads of people and we quickly realized that these are not your usual buses.  They are painted all different colors with funny sayings on them and the windows have all been cut out, and along the windowsills were holes with maraca’s in them. I soon learned they were not there just for decoration. As the buses pulled out for a tour of the island, they music started and the party begin.  This bus was built for fun for those onboard and anyone you passed on the streets to join in, for some dancing and singing. I’m still wondering who had more fun, us or the people we passed along the way. We visited a lot of the sites and then ended up on a nice beach for some fun and sun – what a great time was had by everyone today.

Our cruise now had two sea days to get back to Miami, so we had plenty of time for group activities and time to relax on a deck chair.

The Carnival Breeze has a lot of amenities for everyone, so time was well spent doing whatever suits your fancy.

I really hate to see grown people cry when they have to go home and back to work, but it’s a good sign they will be back.  We’ll be back on the Carnival Breeze on our 6-night New Years Eve singles cruise, and our next over 40 singles cruise is our 8-night Baby Boomers Caribbean Adventure in November.
