I had the pleasure of escorting this great bunch of people on our five day cruise from New Orleans. First of all, let me advise you to never let the size of a group at the time you make your reservations stop you from going! You may forfeit the chance to meet some very cool, fun and interesting people if you do. Although small in number on this particular sailing, we were mighty in spirit and everyone had a terrific time. It seemed everybody became really good friends easily and quickly so that the whole week was a riot. It may have had something to do with most of them getting to know each other prior to the cruise on our SinglesCruise.com message boards and making plans to meet up in New Orleans one or two days before the cruise.
I myself went to New Orleans two nights early because it had been since the mid 80’s that I last experienced the French Quarter (I was but a mere child) and I had some steam to let loose. Several others including the infamous Chuck, Katherine, Jackie, Debra, Doris and Daniel had the same plan and we all met up for an “unofficial” first night at Desire Oyster Bar on Bourbon Street and headed out from there. Thank you Jackie for being my dance partner that night, and yes, the Jamie Foxx song “Blame it” will always remind me of you too. Could the words to that song have been any more appropriate? That’s all I’m sayin. I had a blast. (I know you’re all going to go google the words now aren’t you?)
Our second night in the Big Easy brought in quite a few more people for our “official” Meet and Greet at Pat O’Briens for their world famous Hurricanes. Honorable mention has to go out to Sharon because of her antics on the dance floor at one of the clubs we went to later. She had us in stitches. Who knew that couple was going to be on the ship too huh Sharon?
Speaking of dance partners, Chuck met his match and more the first or second night in one of the clubs on the ship. He was out on the dance floor doing his thing when a very pretty young lady decided she was going to divert attention away from the Chuckster, and that she did. She also got the attention of ships security which kept a pretty good eye on her the rest of the cruise much to the dismay of many of the men on the ship. It was absolutely hilarious when her boyfriend went out on the dance floor to give Chuck artificial CPR.
Our first port of call was Progresso, Mexico. Those of us who wanted to go ashore a little bit later in the morning met at our hospitality desk about 10am and got off the ship together. We found others from our group already all set up on the beach and the entire day was one sunny, relaxing, fabulous afternoon. Many of us took advantage of the 45 minute massages on the beach for only $15.00! Not wanting too much sun that day, Rif and I held a table in the grass roofed open air restaurant overlooking the beach where everybody would make their way at some point for drinks and food. It worked out great!
Our next day was in Cozumel, Mexico where we always host our singles beach party with an open bar at Carlos and Charlie’s on the beach. The staff here goes out of their way to make sure we all have a good time and this day was no exception. The sun, the Caribbean Sea, beach chairs, umbrellas, great service and an open bar which are all included in our program prompted most to say later that this was their favorite day of all.
Thanks to everyone for a great time! See you on one of our upcoming singles cruises soon!
Rick
