Signing on with SC, does the company try to arrange rooms on the same deck or is it scattered all over the ship? I know when I go to conventions, our hosts try to get us in the same vicinity as fellow conv-goers... (silly question)

Cabins are in different areas on the ship. There will be some close together and some far apart. You can request to be near someone's cabin and they will do their best to accomodate.
Sometimes its a good thing not everyone knows where your cabin is located.

As Cindy said the cabins are scattered. However if you know the category of cabin of interest, you can go on the Carnival website and then request a cabin by number. A lot of our cruisers on Halloween picked cabins close together but they were ones who committed early and got what they wanted which was aft balcony cabins.

It is my first cruise so I do not know where on the boat would be a good place. I have gotten a balcony cabin on the Liberty....any ideas on a good area??? Thanks....

I was on the Liberty this last trip and mid ship is a good location. If you can get on Deck 7, 8, or 9 and then be mid ship those are good spots. I was on 7 in an inside cabin last year on the SC Halloween cruise. Liked that I could walk up 2 flights of stairs and be at the pool or down 2 flights to be at the casino, piano bar, disco etc area. Its not a matter of being in a bad spot on the ship as being in a balcony is usually going to put you on one of the upper decks. Deck 9 mid ship means you are close to the pool so a short walk if you need anything at your cabin & a short walk to the casual breakfast if you don't go to the formal dining room for breakfast. Some do go there at breakfast but its much slower, very slow paced but quiet....a good time to sit and chat with people.

I went to the Carnival website and tried to book a certain room, but it wanted my booking number. When I booked they never gave me a booking number... I received an email but there is no number on it... Any suggestions. Of course they are closed until Monday for me to call...

They told me that they would send it closer to the cruise date when they had all the room assignments done.
