More than Just a Party at Sea: Top 6 Misconceptions about a Sailing

Cruises for singles are far different than the old stereotypes; ultimately, they offer a great vacation experience for like-minded, solo travelers.

Fort Lauderdale, FL (August 9, 2016) - Today,, the United States' largest organizer of hosted singles cruises, tackles the top misconceptions travelers may have regarding singles cruises. Some of the top myths include: partying, love connections, not having common interests with other single cruisers, and more. After more than 25 years of organizing hosted cruises for solo travelers, has found that a majority of clients choose a singles cruise to enrich their passion for traveling, make new friends, and experience new destinations with like-minded adventuresome people when friends and family can't, or won't, go on vacation.

"One of the biggest fallacies about taking a singles cruise is that it is just a place to party, but that's not the case. Our guests have a great time, but they join us – time and time again – because of the friendships they develop, along with the promise of adventure to see and experience new destinations," said Sharon Concepcion, Vice President of Leisure Operations. "When guests take a cruise with, they have access to special and exclusive events and activities reserved for our guests. This makes it very easy to get to know others in a relaxed and fun atmosphere and leads to lasting friendships and travel companions."

According to headquarters staff and experienced cruise directors, these are the most common misconceptions about today's singles cruises:

Of course, each cruise offers exclusive parties and cocktail mixers that allow guests to meet other singles and make friends on the cruise, but there are also a number of fun, singles events that guests can enjoy that don't involve alcohol such as: dance lessons, trivia, games, ice cream socials and shore excursions while in port.

TRUTH: While you might meet a few singles during an average cruise vacation, there aren't activities exclusively designed to assist you in meeting and mingling with other solo travelers. Singles cruises, like those offered by, cater specifically to solo travelers, providing exclusive and private events that enhance the vacation experience for all single guests.
