"There's no time like summer to plan and take a cruise vacation. With a little guidance and a few tips, even the most novice cruise passenger can have a carefree and immensely enjoyable time," said Sharon Concepcion, Vice President of Leisure Operations. "Because we excel at providing cruise vacation experiences for solo travelers, we love sharing our insights and know that it will benefit our clients, whether they are sailing on our exclusive, full-ship offering aboard the intimate S/V Mandalay Windjammer or are joining us on one of our many other cruises throughout the world."

The Top 10 Tips to prepare for a summertime cruise vacation from members of the's team include:

Pack your passport first; everything else can be bought or borrowed, but you will not get onto the ship without proper documentation. Your actual passport should always be in your carry-on (in case your luggage is lost/delayed).  Make a color copy of your passport and pack THAT in a separate bag.  If you should lose your passport while out of the country, having the color copy will make getting a replacement a bit easier.

Bring a battery-operated travel alarm clock with you. Your phone will not always keep the right time even though it's on airplane mode; wake-up calls are not always reliable.

Don't worry about bringing a laptop on the trip; most ships have computers, but WiFi charges do vary.

Be prepared to dress up in the evening – even on casual nights most people dress in a nicer fashion versus if they were simply hanging out at home. You want to dress to impress!  Most ships have a laundry service so you don't have to take too many changes of clothes, but these generally do come with an extra fee.

Bring plenty of sunscreen if you plan on sunbathing outside.

Research ports of call ahead of time. Take the time to find out a little bit about each one you will visit to find out what you might like to do or see while you are there. experts can help you.

Take time to rest and relax. With so much going on and FoMO (fear of missing out), novice cruisers often forget to rest between long days in the sun – your body will thank you for that power nap in the afternoon.

Book as soon as possible before group space is sold out; group space equals better pricing.

Summer is generally considered high season, so all the more reason to travel with to take advantage of group rates and exciting destinations in the Caribbean and Europe.

Take advantage of's exclusive roommate matching program, to offset high season rates.
